Stechelberg (922m. ü. M.)

Stechelberg a peaceful alpine village, situated away from the hustle and bustle and amidst spectacular mountain and alpine scenery.

It is an ideal holiday spot for many summer and winter activities.

 

Well marked walking and mountain trails lead from Stechelberg to one of the largest nature reserves in Switzerland

 ( UNESCO World Heritage-Jungfrau-Aletsch-Bietschhorn).

Only 32 minutes by cable car from Stechelberg to reach the summit of the Schilthorn (2970m).

Trachsellauenen Mountain Hotel (1200m)

 

Mountain Hotel at the end of the Lauterbrunnen Valley where chamoix, ibex and lynx roam.

About one hour by foot from the Hotel-Restaurant Stechelberg car park.

Tschingelhorn Mountain Hotel (3576m)

Situated at the gateway of the 'hinteres Lauterbrunnental' nature reserve,  with direct views of a spectacular mountain panorama and the towering Jungfrau.

On your mountain walks you'll discover waterfalls, cross high moorlands and flower-rich alpine meadows or you can advance up to the glaciers.

 

 

 Obersteinberg Mountain Hotel (1800m)

The Hotel is only accessible by foot, about 2 hours from Stechelberg.

 

Enjoy a holiday amidst nature, the mountains and wild game.

 

You'll find candelight and gas lamps, local specialities, a working dairy farm and mule transport of goods.

 

It is a good starting point for many hiking tours of the region.

 

 

Trümmelbach Waterfalls

The Trümmelbach Falls are truly unique in Europe with its ten glacial waterfalls draining together within mountain caverns, easily accessible by elevator.

Trümmelbach alone drains the mighty glacier defiles of the Eiger (3970m), Mönch (4099m) and Jungfrau (4158m) with up to a spectacular 20,000 litres of water per second. This stems from a catchment area of 24 square kilometres of which approximately half is covered with snow and ice.

 

Mürren (1650m)

Mürren is a car free resort in the Bernese Oberland and is part of the Jungfrau Region. It is the highest village in Canton Bern to be inhabited all year round.

Mürren is situated above the historically famous glacial valley of Lauterbrunnen.

 

Wengen (1274m)

Wengen is situated on a sheltered, sunny terrace at the foot of the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau, and 400 metres above the picturesque Lauterbrunnen Valley.

Since 1893, this car free village has been easily accessible from Lauterbrunnen with the historic Wengernalp Railway. 

The top events are the International Lauberhorn World Cup Ski Race and the Jungfrau Marathon.

 

Jungfraujoch (3454m)

Jungfraujoch-Top of Europe is the highest railway station in Europe.

The trip takes you above Kleine Scheidegg and along the notorious north face of the Eiger.

 

Lauterbrunnen

Lauterbrunnen has been a popular holiday destination since the 19th century.

The impressive Staubbach Waterfall has inspired, among other things, the German writer Johann Wolfgang von Goethe to compose the poem: ‘Song of the Spirits over the Waters’.
